1000 students hit the Cross Country Trail!


The biggest Hull Active Primary Schools Cross Country Championships took place at the University of Hull Playing Fields with 37 schools and over 1000 children taking part. Thanks to the University of Hull for the use of their facilities and SM6 Leadership Academy for the course marshalls.

In the Year 1/2 Boys race, Eastfield dominated taking the team title. The winner was Lloyd Preston who was followed by Ashton Drury, Connor Atkinson and Riley Chamberlain to complete the scoring. Thanet were second and Kingswood Parks were third. Kingswood Parks won the B Team race. Eastfield continued their dominance in the girls race with Katie Booth finishing in first and Aleisha Eccles claiming third to lead their team to the title. Zuzanna Kepka Braz from Bellfield split the two Eastfield runners to claim the runners up spot. Thanet were second and St Mary Queen of Martyrs were third in the team competition. Kingswood Parks again won the B race team title.

In the Year 3/4 Boys B race, Eastfield again claimed the top two positions with Owen Bartle beating team mate Jay Duffield to the individual title. Dylan Hill from Craven Academy was third.  The team race was won by Kingswood Parks again. Wheeler Primary student Lilly-May Bujak won the Year 3/4 Girls B race with Phoebe Sidwell (Eastfield) in second and Elsie Curtis (Ings) in third place. Thanet pipped Ings to the team title.

Charlie Redshaw led his Eastfield team home to win the individual race and the team title. Team mates Myles Carey and Lucas Campbell were second and fourth respectively with Jayden Barber-Harrison (Clifton) splitting the two. Bellfield pipped Gillshill to the runners up spot in the team race. Kihanna Johns (Thanet) broke Eastfield’s dominance in the Year 3/4 Girls A race with Esmae Cocken and Evie Wilson in second and third. Biggin Hill won the team race with Ings second and Eastfield third.

Lennon Ellis-Jayvan (Bellfield) won the Year 5/6 Boys B race with the team race being dominated by Christopher Pickering. Team mate Amy Moores followed up Bellfield’s success with a victory in the Year 5/6 Girls B race with Leona Howell (Christopher Pickering) and Ebony Watson finishing in second and third respectively. Christopher Pickering beat Bellfield to the team race title.  Over 300 students took part in the Year 5/6 Boys and Girls A races. Freddie Broadbent (Bricknell) led home the Year 5/6 Boys A race field with sam Bolton (Gillshill) in second and Jake Allan (Kingswood Parks) in third. Christopher Pickering pipped Gillshill to the team race with Bricknell in third. Victoria Dock’s Irene Miguel won the Year 5/6 Girls A race with Lexi Baker from Biggin Hill and Mia Baker from Thanet in third. Christopher Pickering won the team race with Gillshill in second and Eastfield third.

The top performing teams and individuals progress to the Humberside Schools Cross Country Championships in the new year.
