Ganton’s Brandon Bartle produced the performance of the day at the Hull Active Schools Inclusive Athletics Championships at Costello Stadium were over 90 students competed. The Championships is now cemented as a regular part of the Inclusion Sport Calendar within the city.
Bartle who had previously won the Over 15 Boys B 400m then produced a leap of 1m 52cm in the High Jump to make it a double gold for the day. Other double gold medallists for Ganton were Jessica Nicholson who won the Under 15 Girls B Softball with a throw of 20.00m and the 80m in a time of 16.62s. Cameron Crawford won the Under 15 Boys Softball and 80m and Michael Anscombe won the Under 13 Boys B Softball with a throw of 20,61 and the 50m Walk. Michelle Durham won the Over 15 Girls 400m and produced the longest jump of the day with a leap of 2m 80 in the long jump. Ben Davies won the Under 15 Boys 80m in a time of 15.86s and the long jump with a leap of 2m 20cm. James Macauley produced an outstanding softball throw of 42m in the Over 15 Boys B competition to add to his 100m title.
In the “A” classification competitions, The Marvell College, St Mary’s College and Sirius Academy West battled for the honours. St Mary’s College’s Sam Penna won the Under 13 Boys A Standing Long Jump with a leap of 1m 90 and produced an excellent sprint winning the 50m in 8.52s. Team mate, Stella Sproxton-Greaves won the Under 13 Girls A Standing long Jump with a leap of 1m 60cm to add to her 50m title in a time of 9.72s. The Marvell College’s Lewis Hay took the Under 15 Boys A 800m title in very blustery conditions and added the Long Jump title with a leap of 2m 60cm. Team mate Sam Vizi won the Under 13 Boys A High Jump and 100m.
