St Mary’s On Top Again In High Scoring Hull Schools 5’s


St Mary’s College won the Year 10 Hull Active Schools 5-a-side Championships at Goals Soccer Centre, Hull. In a 9 team tournament, St Mary’s College, Malet Lambert and Sirius Academy West qualified out of their groups to play in another round robin league for the top three places. In the first game, St Mary’s College were always in control and beat Malet Lambert 3-2. In the second game, Sirius West went into an early 2-0 lead but then Malet played some excellent one touch football to pull the game back to 3-3. With 30 seconds left, Malet hit the winner to run out 4-3 winners and eventually took second place. In the final game, in a very high scoring game with some fantastic goals scored. St Mary’s ran out 6-4 winners over Sirius West to take the title.

In the other play off groups, Kelvin Hall were fourth, Archbishop Sentamu Academy fifth, Boulevard Academy sixth, Trinity House Academy seventh, Winifred Holtby Academy eight and Sirius Academy North ninth. Well done to all students who played some excellent football in the right way.
