The Year 9 Hull Schools FA 5-a-side Championships was an extremely competitive affair with the final positions being decided on the last round of matches. St Mary’s College A, Malet Lambert and Archbishop Sentamu Academy were the early front runners, however a number of drawn matches against other teams led to a tense finale. In particular, a last gasp goal by St Mary’s College B against Malet Lambert led to a 1-1 scoreline. This would affect the final outcome later on in the tournament.
As the teams went into the final round of fixtures, St Mary’s College and Archbishop Sentamu Academy were level on the same points with Malet Lambert one point behind. St Mary’s College A beat St Mary’s College B 4-1 to take the top spot with Malet Lambert beating Archbishop Sentamu Academy 3-2 to take second place. Kelvin Hall were fourth, St Mary’s College B fifth and Sirius Academy North sixth.
