Ennerdale Leisure Centre hosted our 2019 KS2 Swimming ‘A’ Gala for strong club and school swimmers. Swimming is not just a sport but also a life skill. Learning the basics means you can participate in any aquatic discipline and swim for life. Swimming is a sport that ALL can participate in, regardless of ability. We host two additional swimming Galas for non-club swimmers in smaller pools after February half term.
Eastfield, Thanet, St Mary Queen of Martyrs, Biggin Hill and Victoria Dock submitted team entries into this years ‘A’ Gala. A school team consists of between 4-6 boys and 4-6 girls, all of whom may compete in a maximum of 2 individual and 2 relay races from the following categories;
- 1 x 25m front crawl (boys and girls race).
- 1 x 25m backstroke (boys and girls race).
- 1 x 25m breaststroke (boys and girls race).
- 4 x 25m front crawl relay (boys and girls race).
- 4 x 25m medley relay — backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly,
front crawl (boys and girls race).
Congratulations to Eastfield Primary School who took home the Gold medals with a total of 80 points. St Mary QoM finished second with 146 and then Victoria Dock in third place with 237. Points are awarded based on finishing positions from each race i.e. For each race won, a school team would receive one point. Lowest overall team score wins!
We’re looking forward to our upcoming swimming galas at the new Woodford Leisure Centre pool and Albert Avenue Pools.
