Sirius Academy West produced an outstanding performance to win the Year 7 Hull Active Schools Division 1 Rounders Championships at St Mary’s College to add to their Year 9 title they won a week ago. 13 teams with 130 students took part in two ability graded competitions.
Six teams took part in the Division 1 competition. In Group A, St Mary’s College A beat The Marvell College A and Malet Lambert to claim the top position. In a close game, The Marvell College A edged out Malet Lambert by one rounder to claim the runners up position. In Group B, Sirius Academy West enjoyed comfortable victories against St Mary’s College B and Archbishop Sentamu Academy. St Mary’s College B beat Archbishop Sentamu Academy to take second place.
In the first and second place play off, Sirius Academy west were comprehensive victors against St Mary’s College A. In a close game for third and fourth place play off, The Marvell College A beat St Mary’s College B by two rounders to claim the bronze medal. Archbishop Sentamu Academy edged out Malet Lambert to take fifth place.
Seven teams battled it out for the Division 2 competition. In Group A, Kelvin Hall edged out Kingswood Academy and Newland to take the top spot. Kingswood beat Newland to claim the runners up position. In Group B, Winifred Holtby Academy were dominant winning all their group games. The Marvell College B took the runners up position after beating Boulevard Academy and drawing against Sirius Academy North. Boulevard Academy took third place over Sirius Academy North after a narrow victory by half a rounder.
In the first and second place play off, Kelvin Hall beat Winifred Holtby Academy by a rounder to take the Division 2 title. Kingswood Academy beat The Marvell College B to claim third place. Newland were fifth, Boulevard Academy sixth and Sirius Academy North seventh.
