Heartbreak for Archie in Yorkshire Schools Rugby League Finals


Archbishop Sentamu Academy and St Mary’s College were the Hull Representatives at the Year 9 Girls Yorkshire Schools Rugby League Finals at Castleford Academy.

Archie qualified out of the group phase remaining unbeaten with a win against Corpus Christi and three draws against reigning national champions St John Fisher, Ossett Academy and Selby high School. St Mary’s College found the going tough but performed well and the tournament was good development for the squad. They lost to Castleford Academy, Brooksbank and Temple More by the odd try.

Archbishop Sentamu Academy played Castleford Academy in the semi-final. In a tense game, it finished 3-3. The match went to a golden try extra time period and Castleford Academy scored the decisive points to go through to the final. However, a fantastic performance to reach the semi-final stage.
